    Current Visa Debit Card Review

Current is a digital, mobile-only bank which was designed to make banking quicker and easier with the provided spending tools to help you manage your money.

How does Current Visa Debit Card Work?

You can either sign-up for a personal checking account or teen checking account. The teen checking account gives you the ability to set up allowances, parental controls, track spending and block transactions from certain merchants.

There are two plans for their checking account with different charges and features.

In their basic plan, you won’t pay for a monthly fee or overdraft charges, and you are entitled to a free white card. There is also a Premium account which costs $4.99 per month that allows you to have access to early direct deposits and gas hold refund features. Both accounts allow you to get access to spending insights, instant notifications for purchases, instant transfers that help you to manage your money and saving pods.

Why choose a Current Visa Debit Card?

For starters, they don’t have any hidden fees. Current do not have any designated ATMs, but they won’t charge you for using one of many (55,000) nationwide ATMs. On top of this they don’t have overdraft fees or bank transfer fees. For foreign transactions, you will still be charged $3 per withdrawal plus 3% of any transaction.

With Current, you also get paid faster than usual, up to two days with direct deposit. The account can be opened without depositing money and there is no requirement to maintain a minimum balance.

If you require customer support, Current has a 24/7 live support chat that can be accessed through the mobile app.

    Is It Safe?

Yes, it is. Your funds will be insured by the FDIC on up to $250,000. As it’s a Visa card, you will have access fraud liability protection. The level of encryption that Current uses is similar to that of banks and the card uses an EMV chip to further protect your account. If you lost your card or it has been stolen, you can lock the card and can unlock it once you find it again.
